When I was younger, my dream was to be a Navy Pilot. I wanted to fly an F-14 Tomcat in the worst way. Unfortunately, I was told it would never happen because I am color deficient. That was a HUGE downer.

Since then, any time I see actual still photos of military aircraft in flight I get choked up. There is just something beautiful about seeing a still shot of one or more of our nations airborne gaurdians in the sky watching over us.

So, this thread is an official call to anyone who has stills of our airborne military might doing what they do best. Let's see what ya got!

Great shots! I especially love the A-10 and F-14 pics. The pic of the F-14 really shows some scale. That's one big fighter.

I've seen the Blue Angels during a practice session in Pensacola a few years ago. Absolutely amazing.

    Size is surprising.
I saw a P-38 taxi by a small business jet. The P-38 looked BIG, especially since it was higher than the jet.

We had Skyraiders in the Marine reserves in 1959. That's one big single engine piston airplane. As I recall the prop was 14 feet in diameter.

I used to watch High-Alpha manuver training in Calverton L.I. done with F-14's. To watch a jet that big go slower than the cars was awesome. Then the Harriers used to land at Fairchild Airport. To have one go directly over you at 20ft is just unbelieveable.

    One of my personal favourites.

    Sorry about the size.

If it can't hover, don't bother!
