Not sure why I bought it other than it was shiny...I hope it shoots as good as it looks!

Anybody have one and how do you like it?

    Thanks,
    Seamaster

I have a Mil-Spec Springfield that's parkerized. It's a great gun but mine needed some break in time (Most 1911s do). After a few hundred rounds mine started shooting like an absolute dream (For a combat pistol).

I have to wait 10 days before I can take it home...arrrg!

I had a 1911 a long time ago but sold it for no good reason. It was time to get one again. It bill be my only shiny sexy gun, the others are all business with no bling!

What finish? I had one. Plain Jane, fa sho. I loved that though. It wasn't a GI, but not too much bs either. Loved the short trigger and archd mainspring housing. I've always loved Sprinfield's 1911s though. I prefer them to Kimber and the like. I love the polished flats on their stainless guns too. Really good looking. Hope you enjoy it.....

I just saw a used one excellent condition yesterday for $500 and was trying to confirm that was a good price, what did you pay for yours?

I've got two of em'. They're really good 1911's for the price, you'll enjoy it. Plus if anything goes wrong, Springfield has about the best customer service in the business.

I bought a GI the same way. Went into the store "just looking thank you" and went home after laying down five bills for the GI. Fortunately it's turned out to be a great gun just as reliable as my Colt Elite. Congrats!

Hey, I went out looking for a S&W 908 9mm and came home with a SA Champion. Close.

It's the stainless version. Given the choice I'd probably take blued or parkerized but they only had stainless. I payed way too much which is the price of impulse! It's ok though and as often as I've said "this is the last one", this really is the last one. I've been trading all year and I'm tired of it.

As impulsive as this purchase was it's more sensible than one would think. First off, I've always wanted a Springfield 1911 and since I'm the type of person who gets bored quickly and can't leave anything "stock", this is the type of gun that could keep me entertained for a long time. I'm already thinking about what I want to change but I'll space it out over the various gift receiving occasions and look forward to the next little thing.

The first little change will be a longer trigger but not until summer. I want to learn a little about these before doing anything.

    Thanks for the replies,

i bought a SS milspec recently. first range trip tomorrow, so we'll see about break-in. thus far, it seems like a decent gun for the money. only thing i don't care for is the grip safety

All 3 of my 1911's are mil-specs! They're excellent and very hard to beat for the $$.
