Laid down a nice Michigan 7-point buck last night just before dark. “It cam from the corn…” It “expired” in 3 minutes tops, twas a heart shot. He made it 40-45 yards at most. This buck was running with an even bigger buck, but I couldn’t get that done… next time! Not too bad for my 4th time out with the bow, eh?;)

    Thought I’d share!;f

congrats...it's always a great accomplishment to harvest dear with a bow. a lot of people don't realize how challenging it is. i do have one question though. why through the heart? that is one of my favorite parts of a whitetail. lung shots are far more effective as well. anyway....let's see some pics.

1st off, I don’t much care for eating deer heart, but that’s just me, however I can understand your thoughts on that as many friends of mine share yours.

Now, on your “lung shots are far more effective” thinkings… I guess I’m a little confused by this, because you’d be hard pressed not to hit the bottoms of both lungs (assuming you are not in a tree) with a “heart shot”. During the “field dress”, this is exactly what I found. I’ve found that they expire much quicker with a heart wound then with lung only wounds… it’s just what I’ve personally witnessed.

Good luck with your season sir.
