Just seeing how many metalheads we have here on GT. Let's break the stereotype that gun nuts all listen to country and bluegrass! (though I do have some great bluegrass albums to my name...)

Classic heavy metal is my primary interest, about the most contemporary metal band that I listen to is Swedish melodic death metallers Arch-Enemy. Iron Maiden is easily my favorite band of all time. I've got a Megadeth tattoo on my right shoulder (cover of "Killing is My Business..." album), and I'm planning on getting a Judas Priest tat on my left upper arm once I graduate college in a few months and secure a decent enough job. (Decent enough that I'm completely financially independent of my parents, so they can't do anything worse than yell at me... I've had the Megadeth tat for a while now, they've never found out about it even though I visit home almost every weekend. I surely couldn't hide the Priest one though, at least a portion of it would be visible below t-shirt sleeve level unless all I wore were polo shirts or something...)

Anyway, my :soap: is over. Time to post yours, fellow metal maniacs! ^1 ~2

Priest and Maiden are classic. I also love Megadeth and Slayer a lot.

    Can't forget:
    Sabbath/Ozzy
    Dio
    Metallica
    Motorhead
    Danzig
    Samhain
    Zeppelin
    Ted Nugent

For me it doesn't get any better than Slayer. I listen to them daily. Other bands include:

Children of Bodom - totally insane guitar skills (Alexi Laiho)
    Fear Factory
    Lamb of God
Slipknot - don't like subliminal verses though
    Sepultura
    Pantera

I once liked metallica but they have disappointed me too many times so they're out now

I'm the truest metalhead you've ever met, but people are always surprised to find out what music I listen to.

For some reason button-down shirts and khaki's or polo shirts and jeans with white tennis shoes just doesn't scream "Metal Fan."

    Slipknot
    Shadows Fall
    Disturbed
    Papa Roach
    Slayer
    Rage Against the Machine
    Judas Priest
    Dio
    Metallica
    Ozzy
    Black Sabbath
    AC/DC
    American Headcharge
    Ill Nino
    Rob Zombie
    Godsmack
    (Very, very little) Manson

I also like Motley Crue and some of the other "Metal" bands from the '80s "hair band" era.
Double bass, nice drawn-out heavy bass riff with some super-heavy guitar throwdowns... mmm...

I'm going to get my cd's right now!

im listening to old megadeth even as i type. if your going to try to be any kind of professional, id give serious thought before adding to your ink. i was just talking with an architect buddy over the wknd. who was singing the tattoo blues because of one he has on his forearm. states" i have to wear longsleves to work all the time"
as far as metal megadeth, sabbath and ac/dc are probably my favorites. im an RN and my teachers used to freak out when id come to classes in my black combat boots, shorts and megadeth "youthanasia" concert tee. i loved the reaction......groundhawg

Oh yeah, I'm definitely waiting until I figure out what I'm doing with my life and get a good job before I do anything that would make me unemployable ;) Besides, getting tats anyplace that I can't cover with a t-shirt is waaaaaaaaaay down the road.

I dont like the newer stuff- I am getting old.

I was big into Metallica, Maiden , Priest, Crue back in the early 80's like everyone else.

Maiden and metallica being the ones I wore needles out on (yes as in turntable needles :O) Kill em all never sounded so good...But a few others that I liked were

    Accept
Saxon (still some of the best riffs out there- early stuff)
Raven (they actually kind of sucked- but I thought I was cool to listen to something different)

Helstar (had called burning star that was really killer-at least i think it was pretty good- this was like 15 years ago)

The new stuff is just I dont know- too creepy I guess- I mean Maiden was pretty creepy for the times I guess, but when I see these dudes like Slipnot I cringe. Which is what they want me to do...

I wouldn't say I'm a 'metalhead', but I do like alot of metal. Not new metal though. I like Megadeth, Opeth, Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Danzig, Slayer, etc.
But I also like Stevie Wonder, The Smashing Pumpkins, and David Gray. It depends on the day for me.
When I was in high school I was into more metal than I am these days. I think I was more angry then or something.

Yeah, I hear ya- I can go from an old metallica tune to some Gordon Lightfoot without missing a beat. I think for me its more about just appreciating the talent of the musicians- all this newer stuff with its digital mixing and overdone studio effects just isnt the same as a guy like Jimmy Page getting out there and using his imagination.
