i plan on upgrading the memory in my computer from 128mb to 512mb. my only question is, will changing out the ram affect or delete any of my files. i have a lot of photos and music on my computer. i am using winXp home. i plan on backing up some of the stuff but i don't want to do it all if i don't have to. there's too much. i'm thinking that since it's just the ram and not the hard drive or anything that it won't affect any files. what do you think?

It shouldn't effect any of it.

Changing the amount of RAM will do no harm to your filesystem.

Nothing is stored in the RAM after power is removed, it is only temporary storage.

as long as you keep magnetic screwdrivers away from your hard drive, you should be ok.
