On Memorial Monday (May 25), a rare daytime version of the regular Saturday Night Steel Shoot (SNSS) will be held at the San Leandro Rifle and Pistol Range, 3001 Davis St., San Leandro, from 9:00 to 5:00.

The SNSS is not a match. Rather, it is an informal practice session. We have a variety of falling and static steel targets set up to allow four shooters on the line at the same time. (Two of those shooters engage targets on the Man-on-Man stage, allowing for some real-time competition!) Shooters can show up any time during the shooting hours. The range charges $14.00 for the Memorial Day shoot as it does for the regular Saturday sessions, which run from 6:00 to 10:00 in the evening.

We draw from the holster. First-time SNSS shooters will be given a safety orientation and a “qualification” test on a plate rack. Allowed firearms include pistols and revolvers chambered in 9mm/.38 Spl to .45 ACP/GAP/Colt. No magnum calibers or steel-jacketed ammunition is permitted. Shooters should have a strong-side hip holster, or thigh holster that covers the trigger guard. At least two magazines or three speed loaders, together with belt pouches, is strongly recommended. At least 200 rounds of ammunition are also recommended.

We expect to offer grilled hot dogs and hot links for lunch. We suggest bringing additional water or sport drinks as it can get pretty thirsty out in the sun!

If you have any questions, just ask!

Work on Memorial Day? Sorry to hear that! However, we do the SNSS every Saturday night, as well. :wavey:
