I'm about a month away from purchasing a new pistol, and I've had my heart set on a Valor ever since I laid eyes on Bach's fine photo of one. I read up somewhere that the Valors are now finished in melonite. Has anyone here ccw'd a melonite coated gun and if so did any holster wear develop? I still haven't made my mind up about the black or stainless finish, so I want to be fully educated before I take the plunge. I plan to use the gun to replace my current Kimber for a daily carry.

EDC my DW CCO and there's no wear mark on it. This has been for about 1 year.

Keep in mind, melonite is very similar to Glock's finish.
It WILL wear, however the melonite is a metal treatment that will continue
to protect the base metal, long after the exterior treatment has worn.

I will say that DW's finish is tough as nails.

Yep it's very similar to tenifer as both are salt bath. So you can expect it to wear as a Glock would.

I just put an order in for a GI NN. One of the many reasons I went with a NN is because of that finish. I love the finish on the Glocks. I think it's a tough as any finish can be. I'll find out in about 3 months.

Well, I guess the melonite finish is definitely the one for me! Thanks
