So whose idea was this? Meghan? Harry? Oprah?

And why? I always thought the royals had a cushy lifestyle?

    What say the GT braintrust?

Her idea; she didn't expect all the negative trappings of royalty.

So, like a woman, she changed her mind. Though it sounds like she wants to still keep the title and the coin.

In effect, she doesn't want to do the work for the job.

Oh, and by the way; hubby is whipped.

I suppose I should provide a cliff notes summary of what has happened (after all, this is GT):
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) have announced they are leaving the royal family to seek their fortune in North America.

Well apparently they didn't clear it with the Queen beforehand. Now the Queen is pissed. She's going to put them in the same corner as Prince Andrew at this rate.

They do have a Cushy lifestyle. . . but I get the impression it's not a lot of fun. You don't get to do much, or accomplish much. Just sit around like an ornament performing official functions. All the while being savaged by the British tabloids.

Megan didn't know what she was getting into.

I agree with the British people. Kick them out of the Royal Family. Let them go their own way to become Kardashian clones.

I always wonder how much longer England will keep the whole silly "royal" deal going.

I was thinking more along the lines of rats feeling the sinking ship.

I see a divorce in the near future . When the wife or husband is gone you still have family . Don't burn that bridge .

I do respect him some for wanting to , probably save his marriage and make his wife happy , but I think they need some counseling .

Meghan crapping on ~1000 years of tradition - is not going to work in Britain. If they remove taxpayer support all Harry has is what his mother left him. I don't think the two can earn enough money to pay for the very expensive "security" that Scotland Yard now provides.

    IMHO, just a short-sighted self-indulgent move. I-ME-MY.

Not really invested in following the royal reliefers. It does seem like they are trying to thin the herd a bit, so not sure how much is choice and how much is practicality.

It seems that the royal family MAKES great Britain a great deal of money.

In Tourism. Seems that the palaces and royal grounds attracts a LOT of people.

BTW, I agree that Harry must be whipped big time.

Well. He can fly helicopters. I'm sure some EMS operation would hire him. Might be a bit of a pay cut, though.

I'm leaning towards a "joint decision". Harry grew up in the shadow of his mother's legacy (never ending press and speculation),and Meghan is not accustomed to the constant press coverage. I feel they just want\crave a somewhat "normal life". My concern is they will face more of the same with the North American press.

What happened to Diana she might keep in mind. The Clintons are paid consultants.

Can you add "Who gives a rat's ass" as one of the pole options?

I hope the find what they are looking for. Many say they wouldn't wish fame on anyone. I know I wouldn't handle well the lack of privacy that comes from the loss of being anonymous.
