    Most importantly you made a beautiful meal!

    I'm the Eisenhower steak guy. It's been corroborated that Ike would let his steaks sit out on a plate for at least 1.5 hours and then toss the steak into a bed of hot coals and flip and eat.

    I've Ike'd steaks many times - it just works.

    I'm trying your variation ASAP.

    ETA - don't do a full-Eisenhower using briquettes......way too much ash IMO.

    There is no better way to do steaks; but your searing setup looks like an accident ready to happen. I went the extra mile and cut down a cast iron grate to fit the top of my charcoal chimney starter.
