It may be an uphill battle, but that's never stopped us before. ;-)

As a Virginia concealed handgun permit holder, I would definitely
visit Maryland more often and stay longer if Maryland would recognize

That's Great news, Good luck MD. I don't suppose it would include non-resident permits, but it's a start.

Here's my question. Why only those states? From my understanding, my state, Tennessee, makes it harder to get a permit than VA (where you can do an online course), so why not other states. They need to be pushed to allow states which have a min standard for permits (class with shooting and written test, background check.) If they did that it would open up alot of states.

Contiguous states...people more likely to be traveling to MD for business and pleasure.

Seems like a very slim chance of passing. It would be a slap in the face for MD to allow residents of other states to carry there, yet not even issue to their own residents.

This could be the best news so far this year. It would definetly make traveling north on I81 easier.

I would like to see this pass for obvious reasons.

If passed, it might be enough to get the Maryland residents off their butts and vote the anti gun legislators out of office.

The proposed bill (HB 52) makes no mention of what kind of permit would be acceptable. It just says permits issued by VA.DE, and PA. So if it were to pass, a non resident permit would be acceptable unless the language is changed. The bill sponsor was asked why WV was not included and he said it was an oversight which will be corrected.

I have lived in MD for 56 years and have a VA non resident CCW permit. But the chances of this passing are almost zero IMO. Why would MD allow residents of other states to carry but not it's own?

Don't get me wrong. I'd be tickled if I could carry in my home state on my VA CW permit. Please write our legislators. I'd like to know how much revenue MD loses because of no permit fees or folks who drive around MD to avoid our out of date laws.

We know gun control works. Look at Baltimore.

IF it ever passes (which I seriously doubt), I hope they will add Texas to that list.

It would be nice to visit my hometown and family once in awhile lol.

Good luck but I see it going the way of the recent Komifornia bill - down the crapper! You all need to fix your resident issue problem first! And the only way to do that is remove all those that oppose it from Gov. Give them pink slips!!!

According to Del Smiegel who introduced the bill, it was an oversight on his part and will be amended as soon as it can be.

Unfortunately this won't ever pass. Nice to dream however.

This is great news, Back in Dec I passed my exam and I now hold a Morticians license in the state. I mentioned that it woule be less nerve racking going to all those shady places in MD at night.
