I went to lunch at McAlister's deli today, planning on using their free wifi to read glocktalk while eating lunch. They have a new web filter installed. While I can understand why they don't want porn up on computer screens in their restaurant, it also blocks glocktalk.com.

It even specifies category forums > weapons is forbidden.

There was a link to click to fill out a form if you think blocking it was in error. The form allows you to fill out all the information but the send function doesn't work.

I went to their web site and sent them an email telling them that glocktalk is a legal forum that doesn't even allow profanity and asked them to take the block off. I also told them that I know of 4 restaurants that offer free wifi, don't block glocktalk, and are closer to my office.

I doubt it will do any good, but at least I could tell them what I think. Who knows? Maybe they'll actually take the block off.

If they are so anti-gun that you can't look at a gun related web site on their network, I'll bet they'd freak if they knew I regularly take a Glock in there with me. :wow:

Sounds like hey use the filter the hospital uses where my wife was staying for a month. Drove me nuts.

Hopefully they will listen and realize they are alienating some customers with the censorship of their network.

    FIFY.

You really think someone at the deli decided that Glocktalk should be singled out for blocking? I know if I ran a deli, this would be pretty far down on the list of my priorities. The wifi is free after all.

You are probably right that it is off the shelf but they did specify that forums > weapons was blocked. There are a lot of other weapons forums that probably are too.

I just got email from the local McAlister's manager saying she'd look into it. I'm somewhat impressed that someone actually responded.

The car dealership where i get my oil change is the same. They keep it on fox news, so im not worried about their motives.
