Which is why fafa EC, anytime the gun is on the table, you pick it up with both hands. Lift the slide up muna then smoooothly grab the frame with the other ( all the while you should be standing up and moving to the desired direction )
With practice it should just as fast . and if you have to stand and shoot, you can make kasa much aerlier

Yeah, I see a LOT of that same thing happen with on-the-table starts.

    Using both hands should help!

The mag release spring could be a wee bit worn out, and may need replacement. The sheer weight of the gun could have activated it already, and the mag was disengaged even before you picked the gun up.

Another incident: I once saw this competitor who kept on releasing the mag of his CZ75 every time he fires. He just can't help doing it for the length of the course: 18 mag re-inserts for the 18 rds it took to complete it, and he went home right after that one try. Poor guy!

I also know this guy once. He was shooting a match with a CZ and his slide kept locking back...;f

Doc, prod Para mo ba yan? Grip tape lang katapat nyan malapit sa mag release para umangat ng konti yung baril when laid flat. ;) And I thought nag Open ka na kasi big stick gamit mo. ;f

Dropping the mag is not as embarrassing as forgetting to depress the thumb safety!

I shot in a match at Silver Creek a couple of years ago with an "on the table" start. FIVE of the six people in the squad who were shooting 1911-style guns forgot to push their thumb safeties down. The flinching and puzzled looks were kind of funny until I became one of them. The funny thing is, Wayne P. did it before I did, then warned me to make sure and not make the same mistake, yet I did.

    ARGH!

    Some things I often did:
    - ejected live round after loading a fresh mag
    - forgot to shoot at target, most often the nearest and easiest of the bunch
    - transferred to the next bay, forgetting that I had two mags still on the ground (buti na lang mabait yung mga nakakita)
    - monobloc chair got caught by the rear magpouch, which I caried for the duration of the short course (tawanan to the max talaga...)
    - often forgetting to wear either the lens or the muffs
    - almost, but not quite, broke the 180 rule. The RO grabbed my shoulder before I went past (di ko naman talaga gagawin, but he thought I almost did it). Went off with a slight admonition...
    - just can't "hug the wall" at starting position, due to my Klaus gut of course.
    - shooting on empty, or with safety on. Real time killers.
    - our group walked out on one match, after having been overtaken by one cop after another for two and a half hours just to shoot one measely stage... nakakangitngit!
    - shooting hostages
    - can't hit plates
    etcetera, etcetera ;)
