I have an older LW 9mm conversion barrel in my P80 G23 build.

The barrel hood is not marked with the caliber. So, essentially someone can pick up the pistol and assume it is a .40 cal due to its markings, when it really is a 9mm.

My .300 blackout pistol is clearly marked as to it being a conversion , as is my G22 project.

Any ideas how to mark the hood? I have a set of standard steel stamps, like what you would use to label keys, but I do not think it would due a decent job on a hardened steel barrel.

Steel stamps will be a bad idea in my opinion, as with even the best of intensions the results will come out amatuerish looking.

Find a local shop in your area that does laser engraving to do the job for you. I'm sure they'll provide the service for a reasonable price with far better results than what can be accomplished from free handing it with a steel stamp & hammer.

It isn't like it won't be pretty obvious as soon as they rack the slide.
