When will the forced kneeling begin? Naw, I understand this, but it is just like when schools banned Raiders jerseys because there were some wearing them who were gang members.

I am a Texan, but I never felt the desire to have owned or have flown this flag, but I’ve never faulted others for doing so. Many fly it for general southern pride, some as their heritage, some for white supremacy related reasons and still some for other reasons.

It is a sad day when ‘my’ Marine Corps has seen fit to lump everyone into the white supremacy category, forgetting that past and future marines have and will continue to fight for the freedoms of ALL!

They are banned in offices throughout corporate America. Why shouldn't it be banned in the military?

Better to ask why are they banned at all? This Yankee was never upset with the Stars and Bars.

I've never seen them displayed on navy bases here or overseas.

I grew up in a very southern state. I've never flown the flag.

But if someone else wants to, it's fine by me. What really jacks my jaws is removing all those southern monuments and statues. What are they going to do with Stone Mountain?

One of the first ballistic missile subs (SSBN601) was named the Robert E. Lee. It is long decommissioned now but was in service while I was in the Navy. From what I have read, he was a very honorable man. History has tried to vilify him for being dedicated to his state rather than Washington, DC.

I think the Marine Corp could explain it.

Most likely take a page from the ISIS playbook and blow it up like was done to the Buddahs of Bamiyan. Same mentality.

Why is this flag still being displayed in any Marine Corps sites.

There’s a difference between remembering history, and flying the flag of the losing side that was in the wrong.

    Right time, right place.

Everyone over 45 should be paid reparations by CBS for being exposed to this evil weekly on The Dukes of Hazzard for 6 years.

I always thought of it as a civil war fought 150 years ago, always thought it was my heritage, but now realize I was wrong. Never thought about racism and hate, glade someone was perceptive enough to let me know, hell I would have gone my whole life without knowing.

I don't think they are talking about flying them from flag poles, which I'm sure has not been allowed recently, and you couldn't join the Marines with a rebel flag tattoo for a long time now. I think they are talking about stuff like having one up on a barracks room wall or a bumper sticker on a car or truck.

When the US Marines took Shuri castle on Okinawa during WWII they flew the confederate flag at the site. I suppose revisionist Marxists will soon change that to something non offensive soon

Why on earth would history have an issue with a US General who was dedicated to his state and aspiring new nation over the United States government? Hard to fathom. Can't understand this at all.

I think that US service members should be allowed to display the flag of resistance to the supremacy and sovereignty of the US government and that stood for the armed and organized military battle for secession from the US, wherever and whenever they please. Can't imagine why anyone would think otherwise.

I don’t ever remember seeing a confederate flag in the areas specified in the MARADMIN. Only time I ever seen one was on some boot’s belt bucket or something.
