No surprise. Every week I respond to at last one scene that has been "sanitized". They are always more concerned about their self than anyone hurt or dying. I'm no detective but when I walk into a clean room, (in an otherwise crappy house), with a dead body, (usually an OD), laying perfectly supine on the floor, with no paraphernalia, weapons, or dope any where around, and no one has rendered aid, or knows what happened, it usually peaks my interest.

I will never understand why weed is so important to some. Even more important than rendering aid to a son.

I had lunch with an old friend a couple weeks ago. Used to be my best friend. He's been addicted to heroine for just short of 20 years now. He told me he stops by the methadone clinic every morning (been ding this for over a year now) and receives 100mg. A year ago he started at 160mg so he is doing good. He wants off the methadone but just can't do it yet. He told me he skipped a day because he's been feeling so good and by the next day without any methadone he could barely get out of bed. He's also asked them to drop the dosage to 50mg but they told him that's too big of a drop.

Anyways he told me that a few months ago one of his buddies got out of jail and was staying with him. After the first night staying with him my buddy found his buddy dead on the garage floor. He was in a kneeling position with a needle near by. My buddy called 911 and then hid everything he could find.

Cops arrived in under 10 minutes. They first stabbed him in the arm with a needle. They said it would counter the effects of the heroine. Then started to admit CPR. After a few minutes they stabbed him in the heart with an adrenaline shot. It didn't help either. Then the paramedics arrived. They took one look and pronounced him dead at the scene.

My buddy said one of the cops continued CPR even after the paramedics declared him dead. CPR for another 8 or 10 minutes my buddy said.

My buddy, being an addict and jailed many times in the past doesn't have the best feelings towards cops but he said he cried watching that cop go above and beyond trying to revive his dead friend. He never witnessed a cop show so much care and attention to a junkie.

I guess after being in jail for a few months your tolerance drops fast. When his buddy got out of jail and went and found some H, he didn't know how much to take and over did it. Common problem he said.

I'm amazed that my buddy has never OD'd. He's told me many times, "You can always do more :D" I also can't understand why my buddy has never committed suicide. When something like heroine has such control over you life can seem helpless at times.

He seems to be doing well now and makes it to work everyday and stops to get methadone on his way to work. I would and should spend more time with him but I don't want him around my kids. So since I had kids I've pretty much cut him out of my life. I think, I hope, he understands.

During the first 10 years of his addiction I was always there for him. But now I see him maybe twice a year. I drove him to rehab maybe 4 or 5 times over those years. But I will also admit to giving him money to keep him from getting sick when he had no other options. He was always very embarrassed to ask me for money but when he had no other options besides stealing he would ask me.

He told me at lunch the other day he has hepatitis. So he is also dealing with that. I guess that means he shared needles at one time or another so I guess he's lucky he doesn't have aids.

Yep it's pretty sad. She was concerned about the police finding it.

Amazing, zero personal responsibility in your world. Everything is the fault of "the government".

Me thinks the Founding Fathers would not embrace you.

Only a damaged brain would choose illegal marijuana over legal gun ownership, but that's how insidious and addictive it is.

Thankfully those criminals cannot carry legally.
Makes SYG issues much simpler if I have a CCW, but he has weed.
