Wow, I’ve never had an experience even close to this. One of the best classes I went to was taught by some real been there, done that guys. At dinner, one night, I asked one if them when was the last time he wasn’t the most badass guy, in the room? Yes, beer was involved and we were all joking around. He looked at me and in complete seriousness said, “I am not more badass than anyone. I’ve just had different experiences, that’s all.” Very humble. Another trainer then said, “Every time he walks into a room, with his wife. She’s mean!” We all laughed.

I agree with you there - he probably has a lot of insecurity issues.

It happened at a Tactical Response class in California, but Yeager was not there.

Yeager getting all this hate is in some ways comparable to Trump. Trump's exterior is that of a buffoon, but when it comes down to it, most of his governing is pretty conservative. Yeager acts like a buffoon sometimes, but he is extraordinarily knowledgeable and his fighting pistol class is arguably one of the best pistol classes in the country. I have no idea how this myth got started that Tactical Response isn't a "real" school.

My mistyping. I meant his school. I know that he was not there at the time.

Once again those who can do the job do it, those who can't do it teach how to do it

Somewhat different with this particular scenario...

Soldiering is a young man's vocation. Trying to haul 70 pounds of gear up and down mountains doesn't work well when you get to be in your 40's and 50's. So those who did the job, and did it well can, later in life, teach those who want to learn. I do not begrudge any of these guys who train others and do it well, as long as they are legit.
