OK, I got the go ahead from the better half of us. (it IS her house, too, you know?)

Now I just need a few ideas for a smaller space on a budget.

It's a small basement room approximately 14' x 14. Outlets every 6", and cable are available in the room at this time.

My budget is somewhat limited, but I'm patient enough to shop smart. I'm thinking at least 37" TV and gaming system at minimum.

Not much room to work with. Waddya think?

What is your budget and the must have items you want. Then what are the items you would like to have.

37" is way too small. I have 42s in the bedrooms and anything smaller seems useless anymore. The living room has the 55 which is even better

I was wondering about the 37". It's just that I could make it fit and make it tasteful with the entertainment center I have now. If it's a no go, then I'll just change the battle plan a little.

While we're at it, gaming system? I was assuming PS3.

Paint the wall behind the tv dark, and the tv will seem bigger. Def. need at least a small fridge. Booze can be placed in a cheap bookcase type thing if need-be  . As far as I'd say, main thing is HD tv, and decent surround sound. HD SS is a lot spendier than old surround, so be prepared to dole out more there. Depends on what you want and what she'd put up with. I've seen ones w/special vents so you can enjoy cigars in just that room, all kinds of crazy lights/furniture/etc. I say at least a 42" tv and the surround sound in HD...plus at least a micro fridge and some sort of bar/liquor cabinet 1st.

From the jist of this post - I have to ask for your reason(s)...
Are you looking for a privacy separation space from your wife?
If so - This doesn't sound good to me.
To me - the house is where a man lives with his family. He builds a shop or takes over the garage, etc.

A "man cave" IMO is for guys looking for independence.

Sorry if I got this wrong...:whistling:

Maybe he doesn't have a garage or shop, and looking for his own domain. After all I'm sure his wife has her own place....... The kitchen :whistling:

You could put those mirror tiles on all the walls and it'd look real, real big...

    Not always.

I have a large office in the basement one end of it is a "man cave" of sorts. It is my area for my stuff and for me to relax. My wife has the rest of the house to do what she wants. I just want a place for myself. We run two companies out of the house and and we are together much more than most couples. We also have three kids who have friends over all the time. In short our house gets busy all the time. I just like a place to relax and unwind at times.

Depends on your budget.. A projector + screen is a huge impact item at about 1300$ you have a 120" 1080p television.

    Must have:

-restrictable access to females or choregivers,
-large TV (not bravia, attracts ugly females)
    -Bourbon
    -beer chiller, stocked
    -dartboard
    -leather chair with extra stools
-near bathroom (easy access to return rented beer)
-trophy's, whatever that means to you. Bowling trophies, pics of trophy ex gfs, pictures of race cars, autographed sports memorabilia, etc.
    -computers with pron
    -whatever you want.

Vintage tin signs add a nice touch. Lots of companies out there make newer ones with every kind of ad you can think of, beer, whiskey, gas station stuff, gambling, sports, firearms...........etc. For 14.99 a pop you can get a pretty fair amount of wall coverage done for 100 bucks.

All you need is a chair, some alcohol & maybe a radio. If you make it to nice you'll attract others.
