I have gotten bored and am thinking of making some Crème de Mure. Does anyone have any experience with this.

I mean, it doesn't seem like it should be that hard. Some vodka. Some sugar. Some blackberries. Is there something I am missing?

I guess one just calculates what it takes to go from 40% ABV to 20%? Once the blackberries are removed, the ABV would go back up, so I assume there is some water added?

My mom used to make "blackberry cordial". The recipe sounds similar. IIRC she made simple syrup and cooked the berries for a bit in that. That's where the extra water would come from.
