It pisses me off that I can go out and buy a thousand rounds of .223 or .308 but if I want a box of .22s I have to have someone buy it for me.

That was me 2+ years ago I am 22 now but it still makes me wonder.

In Indiana you can carry between the ages of 18 and 21, but you cannot purchase or own a handgun or puchase or own handgun ammunition... so I can take the pistol wherever I want, loaded, with a CCW Permit, but I can't buy my own ammo for it...

Good laws. I can decide who the President of my country is, or get drafted and die for my country, but I can't drink a cold beer after work or buy my own handgun ammo.

My mom thought that same thing when I brought home my AK. She thought it was odd I could have that, but not a handgun.

In most states you can have you dad buy the handgun for you if you are under 21 but over 18. Anyone can buy you handgun ammo, not just a family member as there are no laws against non-ffl's giving pistol ammo to anyone over 18.

Any range that tells an 18-21 year old that it's against federal law (or state law in most states) is full of **** and making excuses. Be sure to tell them he's full of **** and that you will never do business with him.

I have had range owners threaten to call the police on me for my "illegal" handguns. I slapped down a letter from the state AG and told him to make my day. He then changed hist story to "the insurance company" won't let me...

A correction about IN if I may, in Indiana you may buy a handgun in a private sale at 18. You just can't buy it from a dealer until 21.

Fun ain't it? I have to take rediculous precautions whenever I transport my 22/45, but can carry my 590 fully loaded in the seat driving around.... I hate senseless laws.

Maine law is great. Very lax. You can have a CW permit at 18.

No there are not alot of school shootings. They have happened and may happen again but no matter what the law is if people want to commit violent crime with firearms they are not going to consider whether or not the weapon they choose is legal or not to have or if it is legal for them to be in possession of it.

Nobody carrys an AK47 for personl defense anyways. I suppose somepeople may keep them in their car but that would be about the extent of that.

It's weird that you can join the army and fight for your country at 18. But have to wait till your 21 to legally purchase.

I got my first handgun right after I turned 20. I knew ammo was going to be an issue since asking my parents to get me some would mean I might get it in the next two weeks. My solution was to buy a reloading kit and my my own. All the shops I worked with had no problem selling me anything I wanted for reloading. They either assumed it was for rifles or simple did not care. As it turned out I had about 3000 rounds on hand ready to go when I turned 21.
