Ok so i have a 1 month old glock that has been great. However the two magazines it came with are BOTH having problems. NO granted i havent taken apart the magazines yet to see what the problem is (i have never done that yet and dont know how yet). SO that could solve the issue just by looking around. Let me explain whats going on. IN one of the magazines it is rattling round #7 around while the magazine is loaded. This only happens if the magazine is fully loaded. It still functions and feed great however i will rattle when i carry the gun. The other magazine that doesn't make any noise however has a hiccup after round 6 is chambered. The spring makes this awkward feeling motion. Kind of a clicking sound that i can feel while shooting or manually unloading the magazine itself (w/o the gun). So what are your thoughts?:dunno: I'm sure i need to take these puppies apart but never have dont it yet so im a little aprehensive ..

Sounds like maybe the follower is catching on something inside the magazine wall.
Have a certified GLOCK Armorer take a look at the mags.

After loading each magazine, "bump" the bottom of the magazine in your opposite hand. (kinda hard).

Insert magazine. Rattle should be gone. If not, repeat.

A couple of mine do the very same thing. I'm old enough my bones and joints make enough noise to drown out a little clicking from the magazine. Check on youtube for magazine dis-assembly. It becomes very simple once you see it and do it a few times. Good luck,
Mike

After doing this 3 times it stopped rattling. How come this worked? WHat happened inside them?

The spring set, all rounds are now held tightly together. Some mags allow a round to rattle if the bottom is not tapped, that's what you were hearing. If you look through the holes on the back side of the magazine, you can sometimes see which round is loose.

This is what I do. Sometimes my fully loaded magazines will rattle. I hold the magazine upside down in one hand and whack the rear of the magazine against the palm of my other hand. Usually does the trick.

When you get around to cleaning your mags, look at this http://mygtul.com/

Some will say this tool is not necessary. No, it is NOT necessary but it is easy to use and the brush fits great so cleaning is a breeze. Check it out and good luck getting your mag question straightened out.

well that was fast. The rattle is back.... GRRR. I cant get it to go away mostly but still there and then it rattles within minutes. Any techniques to get this to stop once I have the mag opened up?:steamed:

The rattle is actually rather common. If you don't want it to rattle, take one round out and it should stop, or just load the full mag and chamber one. Slapping it like suggested earlier will sometimes work, but most of the time won't. I do the slapping regardless of if there is a rattle or not.

Heck NO. That's why you brought it.
Take the advice you got here and use it to fix the problem.
The tapping isn't working and that is the advice i have gotten to this point. Also no advice around the weird functioning spring...:dunno:

And you were also told to take it apart, check it out, OR take the mags to a certified Glock Armorer. What did you find out when you did these two things?

Posting multiple times to complain about the problem is not going to solve it. We don't have X-Ray vision to diagnose your magazines so it's time to put some effort into it.

That would be awesome but I DONT KNOW WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR! I have it apart and dont see anything abnormal. And i dont want to take it to a glock armorer if i can fix it while i have it apart on my own. Everything looks normal, normal for not knowing what i am looking at or what the source of the problem could be.

RiverRat5.0, here's a video that I made a few weeks ago that shows you how to take apart a magazine. I hope it helps.

I wouldn't worry about the rattling. I know mine have always rattled, especially if you don't seat the rounds by whacking the magazine against your hand. If the gun still functions 100%, then it's not really a problem. I know that's hard to really understand, but it's true. It's easy for us to want to diagnose "problems" because we think we hear or feel something wrong, but if the gun is functioning, then there really isn't a problem.

I have seven mags...they ALL rattle. And on all of them it is the #6 or #7 slot that rattles while the magazine is fully loaded. It is the bullet sliding back and forth hitting the sides of the mag. Mine all do this, I just never worried about it since the gun functioned fine. Mine dont rattle while theyre pointed down like when they are in a gun that is holstered.

As far as the spring noise goes...it is a spring that is being fully compressed. It is going to make noise as the coils fold down next to each other, as long as it is feeding bullets it is working properly.

Thanks guys, for the clear description. I appreciate all of your help. Its hard to imagine that this is normal because when you have a vehicle if something is rattling something isn't right. I guess its just a natural reaction. Once again i appreciate your help!
