How many of you run magwells on your Glocks?

Is this strictly for competition use? My buddy has a G20SF and wants one on his long-slide (once we get over the marathon wait from Lone Wolf)....I think they look OK, but am not seeing a whole lot of benefit.

    As always, pics are good...

I need one on my Glock 35 for USPSA Limited-10 division.

They are for drag-asses like myself who need every split second in competition.

I'm sure there are people who have 'pimped' their glocks with them. Like a massive spoiler on a honda civic.

THE heavy brass mag well on one G34 open gun and a heavy ICE on the other.

They are too big to be useful on a carry gun.

Very, very nice. Clean looking 17L and the magwell looks good and serves a function as well.

    A+

Thanks Hunt. It is a great addition to the 17L. Slick reloads and some extra weight to make it a real soft shooter.

I have also been contemplating putting a magwell on my 34 and switching from production to limited.

What are some other important upgrades that some of you guys use on your limited glocks

I had my 22 and 20 done by Dale Hunnicutt at gripreductions.com. I can't believe I waited so long to have them done...I love them and highly recommend them. I got the magwell, beavertail, and texturing all done at the same time, the 22 got a palm swell too. I noticed better grip and control, which translates into accuracy and quicker follow-ups. I carry the 20 as my duty weapon, and the 22 as my IDPA weapon. I'm going to take the 20 back to Dale and have a palm swell added to it too. Here's some show off pics...

I would recommend trying out your 34 with full mags a few times before deciding to shoot Limited minor.

Shooting major increases your score quite a bit.

The most important upgrades to me are mag extensions, heavy mag well and a production illegal trigger job. .40 is a must for me in Limited.

    1) Yes, just for competition.

    2) Dawson ICE is THE standard, and I run one on my current gun. I also like the California Competition Works Delrin model. I'm NOT one for a lot of weight on my guns

    3) Sa-weet lookin 17L!

    4) Shooting Limited minor will be a serious disadvantage. It's not necessarily the points, it's the time it will take you not to lose the points. If you can shoot a C in 80% of the time that it takes to shoot an A, you're golden with Major. In Minor, that drops to 60% of the time. So, it's going to really slow you down to get those A hits while the Major guys can rocket through with Cs--follow?

I mean, if you don't care, do it! You might save some time on reloads--you'll be running 23-24 rounds to their 19-20, but you're really better off sticking to Production or going Open, 9mm Major. (Limited Major is restricted to .40 and above)

Magwells are the "tactical competition" model. Beavertails are the "competition" model. Texture is the "tactical" model.

I use a Glock 17 in IDPA ESP division with a cheap plastic magwell, sometimes. Speeds up reloads a little.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but this has answered my questions. I was wondering which magwell to put on my glock, and the Dawson ICE seems to be it! That G17L is SWEET! I am just going for a better range gun, for now, and would like to compete at the local matches as soon as I get my retirement squared away(sometime this year).

Thanks for the great information guys! Now I don't have to start a new thread about the same stuff.
