Just wondering if you guys load your magazines to complete full or back a round or 2 off. I happen to keep 15 in my magazine. Is there any extra pressures put on the mag keeping it completely full? I know they must be made to be top notch at the point of being fully loaded, but I always fill up with 15.

    :wow:

I thought I was bad with buying magazines...Holy crap batman!!!

I need to go and buy more!!!

    OP:

I keep all of my magazines fully loaded. I've had the same magazines for the last 3 or 4 years and the only thing I changed on them were the springs. I upgraded to Wolff springs. I haven't had a bit of a problem with the magazines.

i have been told by many people that keeping your magazines fully loaded has no effect on the spring, and you could keep them for years and years fully loaded with no negative effect. its the continuous compression and de-compression that eventually makes the spring weak.

Fully loaded. I don't keep all of them loaded, I have some in reserve that were function tested, cleaned, and put away in case one needs to be replaced.

Some magazines are prone to wearing out feedlips if kept fully loaded over long periods of time. That's what I've been told. I've never experienced that.

I load mine completely. They're a-okay to be left completely loaded. It's using them (loading and unloading) that wears them out.

Don't fall for the internet myth that's been floating around for years.... Keeping mags at capacity isn't going to quickly weaken the spring. I've kept many loaded for up to 10 years and the springs are still strong and function 100%.

Without getting in the spring wear thing. Do I download my in use mags? In most cases I download one. I try inserting a full mag with the slide forward. If the mag goes in hard, I download one. My figuring is I may do a "tactical" reload with the slide forward and could fail to fully insert if it goes in hard. Plus a mag that goes in hard with the slide forward has the top round really dragging on the bottom of the slide.

Also since I like strong mags springs and often put in Wolff +10% springs I often encounter this situation, so yes I often download one round. I have never downloaded more than one round however.

I have mine downloaded by one round & he's why..
I've seen a few Glocks that the metal slide rails came off the frame..
I "ASSUME" that this is from pounding a fully loaded magazine into the frame & slamming it home pushing the slide up & pulling on the metal rails..
Maybe I'm being "Anal" about my handgun but being "I" Paid for it I can do anything I want to with it..
I wouldn't worry about wearing the magazine springs out because if you do Glock will send you new ones "FREE"

the one in the gun has 5 (of 10) the spare is kept empty. One look at the posts from people with used up magazine springs (shorter as laid side by side with a new spring). I'm not expecting a Rambo scene so i figure if 5 doesn't do it, i'm screwed anyways.
If expecting a disaster of some kind (here in Kalifornia they have them regularly, plus the entire state is a disaster already) then might as well charge up all the mags for more useful grab and go scenario.

I have some of my G17 and G26 (some with +2) mags fully loaded since 2000. No problems at all.
