    Just out:

The Complete Book of the Model 1911. From the Publishers of Guns and Ammo.

Hope this is available in the Philippines also. There is a section of myths regarding the 1911 which I like the most. It included the myths about springs, barrel life (300,000 rounds!), and the disadvantage of installing a long barrel link to supposedly "improve" accuracy.

I think this is a magazine that is published annually(?) by Guns and Ammo. Have the issue that featured the side-by-side torture test of a Kimber Warrior and a RIA. I also like the article of the late Jeff Cooper at the end.

    Hi Mikol,

It's a magazine dedicated to the 1911. It just came out in the stands just the other day. The title is kinda confusing. It's a magazine, but the title says otherwise. It's CDN$8.90 (almost 50% higher if you bought it in the US). I just read some important articles in that magazine.

    Alexii,

Are you talking about the torture test article by Pat Sweeney?

Yup. Checked out the article from my stash again last night.

The guns tested were four 1911s: Wilson CQB and Kimber Warrior (top end 1911s); and Charles Daly and Rock Island Armory (entry level guns).

The tests conducted were the truck test (an SUV's tire parked over the gun in a gravel parking lot), degreased gun test, dirt test, dirt with water test, talcum powder cum sugar test(!), and finally the underwater test. Ammos used were Armscor and Black Hills. Magazines used were an assortment of name-brand mags available.

All four guns passed the tests conducted despite some resulting heavy trigger pull with the top end guns when subjected to the various dirt tests. This was presumably due the tighter tolerances of the Wilson and Kimber.

They somewhat offered different results with the underwater test. The low end guns cycled half the time when fired submerged 3 feet in dirt water. The top ends cycled about a third of the time.

According to the underwater tests with the gun fired submerged under 3-4 feet of water, a 230gr jacketed hardball will perforate an inch into a 2 inch treated board. Distance to the target wasn't mentioned but I'm guessing not far from arm's length.

    :)

It was a fun read, and
    FYI BoG dwellers!
The article was available for free over at Armscor Precision Inc.'s website, as an Acrobat file, but their server seems to be choking
    on bandwidth issues periodically.

Could be published annually. One article was a tribute to Jeff Cooper.

No wonder there's a backlog of Rock Island 45s in the US (about 12k according to an Armscor rep in another forum).. Kaya pala tagal ng processing ng order ko!
