I have a feeling the policy of watching a target for months to avoid hitting his friends and family is pretty much..... gone.

I hope we see a comparison of the rules of engagement under Trump and Obama.

A "green light" President in Office + a Retired Marine at the helm as Sec. of Def. = Not a good time to be an ISIS fighter.

On the plus side, they'll get their 72 Virginians sooner rather than later. Somebody better go order up a fresh shipment of virgins...

If Mad Dog didn't taste so bad, I'd go buy a bottle to celebrate.

I hope Mattis put the ROE in place to support our guys to go along with the strikes for the day.

Something simple like: I want Raqqa to look like a plowed field...

Seriously, if he (or actually, DT, as Commander-in-Chief) unties our guy's hands, we can fix this ISIS crap in a few weeks.

If ISIS keeps using civilians as human shields, I'm guessing when the first few get blown away, along with the ISIS bubbas that hide behind them, (with the appropriate apology for collateral damage) probably fewer civilians are going to tolerate having the ISIS guys around their villages or huts. When they see the ISIS bubbas, they're probably going to be more "helpful" in letting the good guys know where they are. The beauty to that is: when the ISIS bubbas have no more money, no more bullets and no more beans, and every time they move from under their rocks, it results in a big smokin' hole, it'll dampen their enthusiasm.

Big fan of Mad Dog Mattis, no more kid gloves. Probably see less provocation videos from the Isis knowing they will now get an immediate and thorough response from the not fu*king around crew that's in charge

I am hopeful that additional assets are on their way to the region. I also hope that they don't blab about it in public. Uncuff our guys to do the job they are good at, and let them loose.

Now that we have that ISIS sympathizer out of the White House, these vermin will finally get obliterated. I watched Sean Spicer's press briefing today and he told the reporters what Trump has been saying all along, that they aren't going to reveal their plans to the enemy as Obama did.

On some websites people are commenting as if they think the airstrikes are new. It's weird. I don't think they actually realized they've been going on well before Trump or Mattis took office.
I think the simple-minded needed some prodding. They're taking it as "Ooh look. There's a new top dog in town. He's starting airstrikes. He's gonna go get those ISIS terrorists."
I don't think anyone has the heart to tell them we've been doing that for months.

ETA: I do find it funny that the numbers are nearly identical to last years. Doubly funny that the countries numbers were reversed for 2015.

    January 1st – 2nd 2016
    Iraq 25 strikes (6,153-6,177)
    Syria 6 strikes (3,163-3,168)
Confirmed actions: US, Canada, UK, France
12 civilians alleged killed at Hit and Thiayala, Iraq

    Mar 2015
The United States and its allies staged 25 strikes against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria on Tuesday in the U.S.-lead coalition's latest round of daily attacks on the militant group, the Combined Joint Task Force leading the operations said.

In Iraq, 17 strikes near 10 cities hit an Islamic State headquarters and eight of the militants' tactical units, among other targets, the task force said in a statement released on Wednesday.

In Syria, eight strikes near three cities hit six Islamic State tactical units and one of the groups' weapons storage facility, according to the coalition.
