An acquaintance stated that he has to go through some gun board to get a CPL in Macomb County...is this due to previous charges, or is this an added/typical process? I'd expect that they couldn't add a process without cause (previous charges, some anomaly on the application, etc.), as it is a 'shall-issue' statute that allows Michiganders to get CPLs. I saw in another post that there is an online forum to follow the progress of one's application - anyone have a link? Also, any description of or recommendations for going through the gun board/panel/comittee/whatever it is? Thanks.

Just because they don't have any discretion doesn't mean they don't have to hold hearings to justify their existence. Are they getting paid for this?

This only happens the first time. Renewals do not require going before a board again.
