So after much badgering by a member here I picked up an 11" MBA last night (4GB RAM, 128GB SSD). Wanted it mostly for business travel.

In the process of figuring out what to load onto it vs the cloud vs memory sticks. I have a 15" MBP with 750GB storage as a primary machine. This is strictly for specific duty.

This little machine is amazing. Faster than my 2011 MBP. 15 seconds or so to prompt for password from hitting the power button. A total of about 20 seconds to full boot and ready for use.

Who else has one? Whatcha think?

It's one of the most amazing machines out there, enjoy.

.....and it never asked you if you are 'sure' you told the computer to do what you just told it to do!

I bought the earlier MBA - I think you have a faster cpu and larger ram drive. I love my little MBA and prefer it to the 24" on my desk.

My buy a newer, faster version if I can stop buying ammo and guns!

My year-old brand name HD crapped out on my 06 MBP 15". Put a SSD in it. LOVE IT! In 5 yrs, the HD market will be no more. :)

There have been some folks posting here who yank the superdrive out and replace it with SSD......load the OS on the SSD and use the HDD for storage. They say its lightening fast.

I've got an 06 17" MBP with a shot HDD and need to get up the courage to tear into it and try.

After looking at reviews for a new ultra book everything did a comparison to the Mac Air. "Just like the Air", "almost as fast, as small, as easy to use" so I figured get the Air. Seamless MS office transfers and no more 4 minute start up and 3 minute shutdown. Truly amazing machine....I'll never go back to PC.

Man, hope you dig it. I'm still waiting for my four year old Macbook to die, but it's showing no signs of age at this point...

Bring it to Houston along with some beers... I'll walk you through it and then we can have a couple of beers afterwards.

If you are swinging through Baton Rouge, make sure to pick up some Tiger Tails at Chris' Specialty Meat Shop on O'Neil on your way.

Just be careful of all those computer viruses out there.

I love my Mac's. I have a Mac Mini Server and a Mac Book Pro. I've kicked around getting a MaBook Air, but it is hard to justify when I have an iPad that I can do most of what I need, on the road. The thing that irritates me about Apple is that they won't stick a 3G/4G circuit in their laptops, especially the MacBook Air. I would be all over that. Eric

BTW, I put an SSD drive in my MBP. It was very expensive (512GB), but it is worth it. Lightning quick, nearly shock-proof and greatly reduced power consumption. EI

Never heard of these but sounds like you need to tell me! I'll be in Baton Rouge in the next week or two.

If I get to Houston soon I'll take you up on it.

This little 11" air is begging for it!

Needs differ of course. I just couldn't make the ipad what I needed it to be to replace a full laptop on the road. Its still has its place and I'm not leaving it behind, but IFFFFF they'd ditch iOS and/or open up the file system that'd be a whole different story! I would some love having full OSX in the iPad format.
