He shoulda just stayed away from Medicaid altogether. They don't pay enough. Undoubtably he had no ethics and was trying to cut cost to make the work he provided actually profitable. Scumbag and Stupid all wrapped into one.
They "pay enough" when you cheat. Oh, and to the other poster............I believe Medicare pays when it's an "emergency" situation. I could be wrong.
In addition to the ridiculously low reimbursement they provide, they are documentation nazis and periodically audit providers who accept medicaid. There is a dentist sitting in prison right now who was essentially guilty of bad record keeping that was prosecuted for fraud. No kidding.
Around here they've been putting people on medicare/medicaid onto HMO plans at the lowest option. They reimburse the HMO every year. You don't have to deal with medicaid/medicare and the doctor' don't either. It's a lot better then it was. Prescription coverage is still with medicaid/medicare.
