Spell check, my friend!

It's not a huge difference, but M&Ps are a bit cheaper 470-ish for a full-size compared to 500, 450-ish for a subcompact compared to 500.

Equally quality firearms. I'd happily rely on either. Sales, as far as I know, are quite strong, especially to police.

They're trying to beat Glock at their own game: delivering first-rate guns at rock bottom prices. That's the main reason that Glocks have dominated the LE sector for so long.

Spell check only works when you mis-spell something. The word sail is not wrong...its just not the spelling he was looking for. It was pretty funny to read though

This is exactly what's happening.

S&W is going after the LE market very aggressively.

The first M&P 9mm I saw was at Grice Gunshop, Clearfield PA for $399. That was right when they came out. A steal at $399. Seemed like it was an introductory price. They went up shortly after. So, at least at the beginning, they were cheaper then Glocks.

And that is a good thing. Glock has had it too easy for too long. The M&P is a better gun in my opinion.

After finally buying my first Glock [after years of saying 'I'll never own a Glock'], I'm disappointed in the fact that it sprays brass all over me at the range. Maybe an M&P would be a good 'next gun' for me? :dunno:

FWIW, the cost of manufacturing a polymer gun, at the factory, is right around $75... No really. So, I don't consider even the good prices Smith puts on their M&P 'rock bottom.' That said, I'm glad they've lowered them somewhat.

I really like the M&P, had the service size 9mm and it shot extremely well. I ended up going back to Glock, but I could live with either.

I've owned a Glock 21, 30, and a 36. Now have a M&P 45c. I would not think of going back to the Glock 21 or 30. The 36, maybe, but the 45c is a superior pistol, IMO. And, the cost of the polymer frame guns is very low. All the gun manufacturers are making good money on them. A Ruger LC9, dealer cost is $296, can't buy one any cheaper than $335 or so, no telling what the factory actually has in them, but I would hazard a guess that it is under $200.
