Has anyone try LWD extended, port "G23" 9mm conversion barrel in their G27?

I know you can used G23 stock length conversion barrel on G27, but wasn't sure if the estended will do the same trick.

    Thanks ahead. :wavey:

I just though 5" (well, 4.9") barrel on a G27 will look really cool.

    I'm getting a Storm Lake G23 4.02" barrel for my G27.
The G22 barrel will not work, but G23 is fine.
It's not the length of the G22 that's the problem fitting in a G27.
The longer, extended, ported G23 barrel should not be an issue.
    You're good to go.

    BTW I put a 5.47" Sport barrel in my 4.4" P220.
Sig Customer Service told me it wouldn't fit.
Fits like a glove and shoots all aces.
    don't fear an extended barrel

Funny you mentioned that. :wavey: I was just thinking the same thing the other day, as a way to get one 9mm converson barrel that I could swap between my G27 and G23C that would also look different enough to remind me to not load .40 in the mags.

I talked to a lady with Storm Lake and made sure it would be ok, she said that the G23 double ported .40>9mm barrel (4.72 inches) would work great with my G27. Now I am just waiting for it to show up but that gives me time to build up a nice collection of 9mm ammo.

    The funny thing is -
    Storm Lake G27 40 3.46" $160
    Storm Lake G27 40 4.16" $175
    Storm Lake G23 40 4.02" $160

Plus MidwayUSA has the SL G23 40 for $140.
I get an extended barrel and save $35 bucks - LOL!
Barrel should be here by Wednesday - Woo Hoo!

    I got a G27 40-9 conversion barrel too.
    Now I'm wishing I just got a SL G23 40-9 for my G27???
    Oh Well, live and learn...

I personally don't see any purpose in an extended barrel on a subcompact like the G26 or G27, but that's just me. What advantage do you expect to see? Porting, maybe reduced recoil for the range?

Barth: I understand the velocity gain as that is why I use a 6.02" LWD barrel in my G20SF for hunting. I just don't see why you would want to turn a subcompact conceal carry piece into a larger weapon. Seems like I'd want to keep it as small as possible, and have a larger weapon that has higher velocity for other roles. Now on the other hand it doesn't have to make sense. Maybe it's just for fun I don't know. I was just curious. To each his/her own. Plus I don't see those difference in velocity gain worth buying an extended barrel for 30 some odd fps gain. It does make a big difference for hunting to have the 6.02" barrel in my G20SF because I gain about another 100fps. That makes sense to me, but like I said if that's what a person wants that's their business and it doesn't have to make sense so long as you like it.

From what past threads have told us:

    1) $$$. Many are not able to afford a 2nd gun, but ARE able to afford a second barrel. Probably a stupid thing to spend your $$$ on if you can't afford to buy a whole gun - but I digress.

    2) Carry. Carrying a G19 and a G26 is VERY different IMO. I quite enjoy my G26 with my G19 length barrel. It's lighter, and I dont have the longer grip of the 19 sticking out when I bend over. Do I usually carry with the G19 barrel - no. Do some because they feel the few extra FPS matters - yes.

    3) Uniqueness. Meh. It's different. Different = Cool, so long as you are not too different.

The difference of a 1/2 inch longer barrel is negligible in terms of the size of the
gun for carry. It fits quite nicely in a G23 holster with a sweet short grip.

Good points. I like having something a little different myself, and like you I notice the hardest part to conceal on my Glocks is the grip. I can comfortably carry my G20SF in a Crossbreed designed for a G30SF, but the grip is difficult to conceal without an over garmet.

Just being different and trying different things out is exactly why I do it.
My one G27 has 5 barrels, in three calibers, three lengths, two finishes and one is ported. LOL!

Am I out of control? Sure
Am I having fun? You Bet!

Plus maybe I shoot one of these configurations a lot better than the others?
    Maybe? LOL!

Also, I've found that at least in my hands, Storm Lake barrels are
significantly more accurate than OEM Glock.
If I'm going to upgrade to a high end stainless barrel anyway.
Why not get an extra 50 fps & 50 E edge at the same time?

The worst part of shooting for me is cleaning guns after shooting.
If I can go to the range with my 23c or 27 and use only 1 gun and shoot some cheaper 9mm after 100 roounds of .40 that works for me.
I am getting the Lone wolf conversion 40 to 9mm 5.32 lenght for better accuracy at the range.
I would never load 9mm in my 40 for personal defense.

I don't think that you would have liked being in the Marine Corps then.

    LOL, I didn't say I wouldn't clean them, I just don't like cleaning 3 or 4 guns when I can shoot 1 or 2.
