Anyone that has experience with this LWD 40-9 conversion barrel, would you recommenced it to be reliable enough for every day carry?

Also, is there any way to remove that hideous Wolf Cartoon off the top of the chamber?

I was just logging in to post the same question -- specifically to Gen4. Will running 9's in my 22 turn it into jam-o-matic, and throw brass in my face?

The reliability is the least of my worries, that cartoon is hideous

I haven't bought the barrel yet, so I'm wondering if I should just pay for a blind mark...

Or save $15 and dremel it off / blue it, is it even possible?

Get it in black if you are particular about the logo. I have one for the 22 platform and it performs perfectly! No need to change anything on the slide, I just use a 17 magazine and shoot my lead loads thru it. Same recoil spring as I use for the 40, 14 lb. Wolff, and same point of impact as the 40, no sight changes.

Very apt word to describe it.

The barrel works FLAWLESSLY, but pay the $14 to get rid of he cartoon.

Do it yourself:

Thanks for your post. I have used sand paper to remove finishes from the tops of barrels and polish them before with no ill side effects. I am going to sand the wolf to kingdom come.

I wish someone would do a semi-scientific poll to get some idea of what percentage of buyers actually don't want that thing. That would tell us a lot about why it's there with the extra charge to leave it off. It reminds me of the phone company charging EXTRA to NOT publish your number in the book. If you think about it, it actually costs the company less to not have to laser-etch that hideous cartoon into their parts. But...if you can get paid for doing nothing, well, hey? What'cha gonna do?

reliable for carry, probably. i wouldn't unless i had to cause its converting from a 40 [differences of the ejector, extractor, and such].

The 40 to 9 LWD conversion (barrel only) has worked perfectly in my G35. I had the same concerns about the ejector and extractor, but after thousands of rounds and no issues, I have no concerns now.

Just recently got one for my gen 4 35. No issues except with weak ass federal ammo. The federal 9mm just doesn't have enough power to cycle the 40 spring.

I had the LWD G34 barrel for my G 22. It was very dependable and accurate. Caught some brass to the hat, but that wasn't the fault of the barrel, but of cheap ammo. But I traded the whole set-up for my gen 4 G27.

I plan to get a G26 barrel (black, no wolf) for my new gun, but will only use it at the range because I already have the stock carry rig in .40.

While I like it for range and cheaper training...I have issues with FTF and FTE in my 23. Mine has not proven reliable enough for carry. I probably need to send it in...I've put over 500 rounds of various manufactures through it and have atleast one FTF or FTE out of each mag.

No issue with the barrel, just change to a lighter spring to suit the ammuniton. I run 14 lb. springs with both 9 and 40 rather than the factory (same for both) 17 lb. They run good with all factory weights and my handloads.

:agree:

I use a G35 LW 40-9mm barrel in my G22. It too has been working perfect.
