He was either 30 or 31, and he helped me fill my freezer every October since 1994. Sweet, friendly and loved Guinness. Adios, old friend...you'll be hard to replace but we will ride together again someday. HH

Sorry HH, losing a good horse is tough because you lose and friend and a working partner.

That is an awesome picture BTW.

    Sorry he had to go.

    That's so sad to hear.

The fact you had so many years makes it an even stronger bond. That's almost as long as another human friend. In such a long time I can understand how you can get pretty close to him.

My wife thinks I am weird because my dog and I have such good communications between us. She doesn't get that close. Or at least she doesn't try to see into his actions as much as I do. To me, he is still a dog, but I am very fond of him as you were with your friend.

I'm truly sorry about your losing him. I hope your loss will be mitigated with time.

    RIP

Thank you. That's looking west right into the northeast corner of Yellowstone N.P. The clearing right in the saddle of the mountains is where Montana and Wyoming meet on the park boundary. HH

I'm very sorry for your loss, HH.

He just looks sorta kind and gentle, a very nobel friend, I'm sure.

    What was his name?

Sorry man, that is hard to handle. 30 years is a long life and it sounds like it was a good one.

Thanks. I saved him from the canners eighteen years ago and I don't think he ever stopped thanking me. HH

They know, I'd swear it. I'm sure there are a lot of great memories gathered over the last 18 years.

Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened. Beautiful animal, HH.

    Cherrish your memories.

There are dozens, but the one that still gets me poked in the ribs is the time I dropped my bear spray dismounting and just as I reached for it, he stepped on the can and it blew up in my face. I got such a dose that it hurt to pee for the next three weeks. HH

Sounds like something mine would do, though I already basically did it to myself

You said he liked Guinness, mine likes just about any beer or soda. And skittles. Loves skittles.

Thanks for the heads up on Skittles. One of my wife's has just been put on isoxoprene and won't touch it in peanut butter, honey, cob, crack/meth, etc. Will try the Skittles thing tomorrow. BTW, say what you will about animals, but the whole barn seems to be in distress/mourning tonight. HH

We lost a cat a year or so ago, the other one was depressed for a solid month, at least.

And yeah, try skittles, I think they like the fruity flavor. Speaking of, my arab/QH mix loved the fruit flavored Bacardi drinks more than anything, if you brought a clear glass bottle anywhere near him he'd start whoring for a drink like nothing you've ever seen

My TWH is the same way for root beer
