My Smith and Alexander slimline mag guide came in today and I couldn't wait to get home and put it on my Springer. Sadly, the first thing I noticed was how sloppy the craftsmanship was on this thing. The worst part is that the left side of the mag guide is .025 shorter than the right side and doesn't line up at all. I tried it in 3 1911s to make sure the gun wasn't crooked. IMO this is pretty shoddy craftsmanship for a $90 mag guide from the people who patented this design and claim to be "the mag guide people". My $40 EGW mag guide lines up better than this one.

Is this normal for Smith and Alexander?

Dropped it in the mail this morning. Hopefully the turnaround isn't too long.

Cast or forged, either way it isn't right. I had a lot higher expectations.

The only thing that I've heard good things about are their GS and MSH.

If I were to put a MW on one of my gun, it would me something along the line of a Stan Chen...

The new Nighthawk MW/MSH combo is promising. And it's forged too.

I like that the SA is one piece and Slimline... Also, No way in hell am I paying $200 for a Mag guide. $90 is pushing it.

The only NH I see is black.

Dad has a full blown ffl. It's just easier to order from brownells. If the second one looks like yours, I'll send it back and get my money back.

I understand that but is that ffl pricing? I don't have the ffl my dad does and I don't like bothering him for small things.

Maybe it has to do with the slim-line version. Mine is the regular version that requires new grips to look right but yours and the other picture posted is the slim type. Just a thought.

Maybe. I already have the VZ flat bottom grips, I just like how the slimline looks. If mine is crooked when i get the new one, It's going back along with a long letter to SA.

I just got one in but haven't checked it out yet.
Just call them up and ask about it.
