    A socialist, BTW.
looks like Germany will loose a major ally in pushing further austerity measures at debtor countries (PIGS), which will essentially raise the question if they want to continue lending to countries that have no way to repay these loans. I'd guess they would not--given how down the German voters were on loaning all this money out to begin, hastening the defaults that will follow without the loans.

As a day trader, I would advise not owning any bank stock. Most are tied to Europe and their economy, this does not bode well.

What's the chances that Germany breaks from the EU debacle and goes back to its own currency? It seems like the strongest country in Europe to me.

    Bring back the poll tax...

    Seriously!

    To vote you must prove.

    1. Citizenship
    2. Pay taxes
    3. Not on government assistince (excluding Social Security,medicare/caide)

When people start voting themselves benefits by plundering the paychecks and profits of others we started down the back slide we can't tax our way out of...

Why? Government assistance is government assistance, whether it be SS or WIC.

Why exclude those? You know those are the biggest spenders right next to the military industrial complex right?

Worth noting that he's the President, not Prime Minister, and that the French President has a level of direct control that would surprise most Americans. Not so much with the balance of powers in the Fifth Republic of France.

    No.

    There is no difference.

The idea that you paid into Medicare and therefore "your" money is waiting for you when you retire is a fantasy. That money is gone. It was spent on benefits for those who were retired when you were working. When you demand benefits, the money to pay for your benefits comes from those who are working when you are retired.

It amounts to "someone stole mine so it's ok if I steal yours." Stealing is stealing.

DD, I don't agree with you that the gov't owes me nothing after a lifetime of collecting SS and Medicare from my pay.

However, for my children and grandchildren's sake and the sake of the nation, I would gladly make that deal. Keep my SS and Medicare Money IF..........IF you cut out Welfare and free housing and all the giveaways that are creating a deadbeat class and therefore an ever expanding demand for those freebies.

Wanna fix the immigration problem? Quit paying people a middle class wage to come here and breath.

The EU was destined to fail b/c you can't link currency and not fiscal policy. They've made this mistake countless times in the past. They don't learn from them.

As far as a Socialist - Mitterand was one and was PM for a gagillion years in the 90's. Political party names mean LESS over there than they do here.
