Anti-Abortion Democrats Pledge Support for Health Care Bill in House

House Democrats who had withheld support of the health care
legislation because of abortion concerns said Sunday
afternoon that they would back the bill, all but assuring
that Democrats would have the 216 votes needed for passage.

The White House and Congressional Democratic leaders
announced the deal, and rank-and-file Democrats who had
worried that the bill would somehow allow the use of federal
money to pay for abortions or for insurance coverage of the
procedure appeared at a news conference to say those concerns
    had been addressed

Don't be so sure...sanity can still prevail. Then again, this is happening in D.C. under intense pressure from the gang from Chicago and their accomplices.

I still don't understand the logic of this issue. The problem that everyone has with "healthcare" is the cost. So how is this measure addressing cost? It's not making the doctors rent payment or insurances any cheaper. And it's not making medical school any cheaper. Or payroll taxes. Or research.

It appears as though all it does is add a lot more people to the group that's paying for it. And I'm not even sure of that. With all the loopholes and subsidys, we're probably just going to get a lot more people eating from the trough.

I figured it would, hard for a socialist to resist the chance to nationalize almost 20% of the economy and tie everyone's future health to their policies at the same time. All that we can do is make them pay, and pay big, in November.

That's because you still think it's about health care, it's not. It's about power and nationalizing 17% of the nation's economy. It's also about making all voters beholden to the Democrat Party for their very lives.

This just makes me very, very scared. I'll have a more scathing comment in a few hours, but for now I'm just petrified that the America I've known and loved for 36 years is (more) quickly spinning into the crapper.

It's astounding to me that politicians don't see what's wrong with nationalizing health care.

    Exactly.
This and finding a way out of being caught red-handed for the Medicare mess.
Now we'll all be stuck in the same government-mismanaged system, young and old alike.

If there remained any illusion that America is today a republic, that illusion dies tonight.

IMO, if this passes, next thing will be to get our guns outlawed with some 'common sense' gun control laws. They know what's 'best for this country.'

At least they think they know.

Naw, next thing is Amnesty for Illegals. Gotta add 30,000,000 more votes to the Democrat rolls.

Look at all those Republicans that voted for the bailouts despite the majority of Americans standing overwhelmingly against them.

Both parties are ignoring the will of the American people.

I think this could send the economy into convulsions all over again. The company I work for was just starting to think it was safe to buy some new equipment but I know they won't if this passes. You can bet any company with more than 25 employees will be looking to cut some. Any hovering around 25 will make sure they are under that number. I don't know what the dems are thinking. It will be four years of higher taxes before any "benefits" kick in. That is four years of dems trying to explain job loss and higher premiums with nothing to show for it. They will need to change the name of their party to ever get elected again. They seem to be betting that putting more american's on the government teet will ensure their ability to buy more votes in the future but I don't see it. The money isn't there to play these games anymore. They have shown no desire to reduce spending. So we can only inflate our way out of this. Inflation like we've never seen.
