    ......but not too gross.

I am teaching a class on the mental aspects emergency preparedness. One of the topics will be what would you be willing to eat in time of an emergency. I want to get people talking and out of their comfort zone but not make them sick.

I am thinking about eating a dog biscuit or treat covered in that rooster brand garlic chili sauce. I figure the chili sauce will kill the taste of anything.

This will be a church group of about 100 men and women.

    Thanks.

Skip the biscuit and go straight to the dog.

feed them scrapple. remind them that the word crap appears in the middle of it's name for a reason.

haggis? my ancestors lived that long eating that?

mcdonalds....that's about a setp below scavenging in a landfill.

otherwise, roadkill would be pretty extreme.

or, i could just cook for you folks....you'd pray after you ate it.

chinese preserved duck egg. sometimes called "1000 year old egg". get them at any Chinese grocery store (in 6-paks). the egg white is gelatinous black and the yolk dusty grey--smells slightly ammonia-y.

    yes, considered somewhat a delicacy.

Just another step out from your dog biscuit idea... How about canned pet food? It'd get you by in an emergency, but it would be tough times getting it into the belly!

Also, don't eat dog food, it can mess up your insides.

    Anything with eyes.
In China, I often saw kids walking around with smoked duck's head on a stick. Little 3 year olds tearing into those heads like a tootsie-pop!
Most butcher shops can also supply a nice sheeps head stew.
Asian markets should carry crickets (dried and fried).
Meal worms from the pet shop.

I'll be in India and Bangladesh next week...I'll let you know if I come across some winners!!

    Tuna from a can. Lol

My uncle brought my grandfather some kidneys once. Gramps boiled the piss out of them, literally. Uncle Steve said it stunk to high heaven like a restroom but tasted great.

I've tried canned dog food before. Wasn't too bad. I've since heard that it's not safe for people to eat doggie food.
