I am looking for a bobbed hammer for a SP-101. Anyone have any ideas where I could find one other than Ruger? They want the gun returned for an installation. That gets pretty expensive when shipping is involved.

    Thanks!!

a dremel tool and some sandpaper would be cheaper.

Nope. You'll have to send it back to Ruger. Been there, done that. I traded my bobbed hammer for another guy's regular hammer. The bobbed worked perfectly for him but the regular hammer on a bobbed production gun doesn't work. Another words, a trade is probably out of the question for you as no one will make the trade with you. My gunsmith tried like hell to bypass Ruger and called upon all his parts suppliers to no avail. All total, my bill was $85.00. That was them making it work and all the shipping. Save yourself the aggravation and just send the gun to them. Just my 2 cents.

I'm wanting to put a bobbed on my non-bobbed. If I could find another non-bobbed, I could bob it but I don't want to grind on mine. I might want to put it back to original someday.

    Anyone seen Bob today? ;-)

You're going to be waiting a while friend. Ruger (last I heard and from my gunsmith) doesn't sell hammers to any gun parts places for liability reasons. According to him it was something to do with a fellow shooting himself and taking Ruger to court (Imagine that) and winning a judgement against Ruger. That ended hammers leaving their factory doors unattached to a gun some years back already.

Again, best wishes and good luck.

You can find Ruger single-action hammers, but not DA hammers.
As mentioned above, Ruger will not sell them either directly to you or indirectly to a parts place or gunsmith.
