    That's a pretty fancy cockpit for a 204kt 4 seater. Sweet.

BTW...can do you simulate partial pannel with a CRT display?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that they need backup conventional instruments (airspeed, attitude, etc.), so you could just cover up the CRTs or something.

I posed the question (and several others), and here's what he said...

I ordered the Cirrus in October.. There is a waiting list for them, so mine was just finally completed….

The cirrus has all the new technology along with a fast cruise speed not to mention a parachute if all hell breaks loose..

I bought the plane loaded with every option, including traffic, stormscope, engine monitoring and icing.

It is truly a fascinating and fun plane.

There are many redundancies in a Cirrus…. As it relates to losing the PFD, you still have your steam gauges.. Those steam gauges along with the GPS units represent more capability than most GA airplanes….

The electrical system is redundant as well….

There are two separate electrical systems with separate batteries and alternators.. The critical flight equipment is on the essential bus…. This bus can be powered by either battery or alternator based on an in-flight power loss….

The cirrus has incredible redundancies all the way through….

It would be almost impossible to lose the entire electrical system….

And as I said, losing the PFD (that’s the Primary Flight Display computer with horizon info) is a non issue even in the clouds, given all the other equipment…

I have flown a couple approaches already under the hood with the circuit breaker pulled on the PFD… NON ISSUE….

"It would be almost impossible to lose the entire electrical system…."

Where have I heard that before ;f

Usually followed by, "But if you do.............."

    Nice machine:cool:

If he needs someone to fly it around for a few months to break it in, I could probably break loose. ;f

Heh... not likely. He didn't even offer to fly down here after picking it up to give me a ride. Guess I'll have to wait until the next trip back east to visit the in-laws. :( ;f

pretty dang nice, although I could think of better buys for 300k+. i've always wanted to see the chute unexpectedly deploy on one of those while in cruise.

That's the base price; he optioned it out to about $375K. He's a great negotiator so I doubt that he paid that much for it, and knowing him he probably paid cash for the darn thing. :)

Oh, if I had only paid attention when he told me he was buying MSFT stock. ;Q
