if your looking for outside defense on a farm or rural home i would consider a shotgun or AR platform. points better and only hits count. i want a huge advantage over any folks trying to do harm, being able to make an accurate hit on them quickly at 50 feet to 100 yards seems like a good deal to me.
inside a house , even a large one the barrel length of a handgun does not really interest me much. 3.5 to 5 inched seems great. glock 19 or 5 inch 1911, whatever .
