I'm thinking a G34 with a light and maybe a halo sight or something. Has anyone set up a longslide for this purpose?

Get yourself a pistol caliber carbine, like the CX4 Storm.

It’s the ultimate longslide.

Or if you expect a half dozen body armored thugs to break down your door, go with a true rifle, like a Tavor X95 if you’ve got the scratch. Or an AR if you’re on a budget.
