Just thought I’d give my 2 cents on the conversion barrel. I bought the Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel about 3 years ago and didn’t give it another thought. I had it stuffed in a bag and came across it after this silly little thought crossed my mind to sell the G23 and get a .357 or a 44 mag. I live in bear country.... black bear country. You know the ones you can shoo away with a sniff? Anyway after a lot of reading I decided to keep the Glock, buy 2 g19 mags and give it a go. As directed by Lone Wolf I put a box of +p 9mm ammo through it and followed that up with 200 rounds of Federal RTP. Not a single FTE or jam.. or jelly for that matter! I alternated 2 mags of 9mm, swap barrel back, and 2 mags of .40 until the .40 ran out then all 9mm. I know there are a lot of opinions on the different conversion barrels and whether just a barrel and mags are sufficient for reliability but I have zero complaints so far.

Lonewolf 22, 23, and 27 40-9mm barrels run reliably for me with factory ammo. They will jam if you run reloads that's bulging a bit with the casings though.

Other brands' looser tolerances feed bulging reloads with out issues.

I have LW 9mm conversion barrel and they have been 100% in my 23s with just mag swaps. I did buy a 19 ejector and a 19 recoil spring for my Gen4 just in case I needed it for carry.

I think it’s a legit option for someone with a 23 and wanting to shoot 9mm.

I had a 23 with the LW 40>9 barrel. Ran it for several hundred rounds in training classes. Some of which was my reloads. I never had an issue related to the barrel.

I don’t think I’d carry with it but it was extremely reliable.

To make that a true statement, you would have needed to replace the ENTIRE slide assembly, the ejector, and the magazines.

Or perhaps you meant you installed an aftermarket 9mm conversion barrel, which leaves a whole host of things on the "converted" G27 that are NOT the same as on a G26.

The only correct and proper and Glock-sanctioned caliber conversion for a G27 is made with an OEM G33 barrel. But what would Glock know about such things?

one of the first things I did when I bought my first Glock, a 31, was to purchase a LWD conversion barrel as a range only means of practice.

9mm reloads with cast bullets was the easy and cheep way to get a lot of practiced, a couple hundred rounds of 9mm to practice drills, a couple mags of 357 Sig reloads to make sure practice was effective with the more powerful round, and occasional practice with actual carry rounds when rotating ammo.

thing is, I fired more 9mm through that pistol than anything else, by a huge margin, and never a hick up, had I ever needed to carry my 31 as a 9mm convert, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

YMMV....

but mine hasn't with a couple different Glocks and LWD convert barrels.....just sayin'

I put a Lone Wolf conversion barrel in my G23, never had a failure after several hundred rounds through it. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it.

As a side note, I've heard many of you guys say you have an extremely reliable, never fail to fire gun with the conversion barrel- but you would never carry it? Why?

As a side note, I've heard many of you guys say you have an extremely reliable, never fail to fire gun with the conversion barrel- but you would never carry it? Why?

For me it’s a personal preference. If I wanted to carry a 9mm I’d use a 19. A 23 has different parts that are designed and tested to function with 40 cal even though it worked for me with 9mm with no issues, I’d have mental reservations about trusting it with my life or my loved ones.

I also wouldn’t carry a P80.

the problem.

No, but my G23 is a gen 3.

About 1000 completely trouble free 9mm rounds through my G23 with a LW .40-9mm conversion barrel and G19 mags. I change nothing but the barrel and mags and it's been flawless. I would trust my life to it.

My gen 3 G23 runs LWD 23-19 barrel flawlessly. It does choke on “out of spec” 9mm.

I use it with both 9mm and 40 S&W magazines with our issue.

Wouldn’t a new extractor mags and and a reduced recoil spring make it a pretty much a 9mm Glock.
