I just bought a new G19 that has the locking block pin. I am looking at a good used 3d Gen G17 that doesn't have one. Is this something brand new on just G19's, or is it on the newer G17's too? Would you guys recommend this feature on a G17 if I plan on doing a lot of shooting? My range ammo is Winchester white box, 115gr FMJ.
    Thanks.

The locking block pin isn't required on frames for 9mm pistols. It was added a few years ago to help streamline the manufacturing process - i.e. they produce one frame and it can be used in all calibers in a particular size (full size, compact, and sub compact). In other words, no more '9mm only' frames.
