in Chicago on business... Corporate card, three of us ... We can spend a s load but: we are skipping the steak houses, sushi, French food etc...

Because we are in the land of Giordonos deep dish. Living the dream on the cheap.

    Your version?

I am not sure what the spirit of your question is, but I could have Bill Gate's money and I would still eat BBQ off butcher paper in Lockhart Texas or eat the Juarez Dinner at Mana's, located in a double wide, in the barrio, in San Marcos Texas.

Steak, lobster AND sushi at a reasonable place is as cheap as I get when traveling.

You lucky son of a gun! We love Giordanos. My wife and I have taken a few day trips from Cincinnati up to Chicago just to get some and then drive back home. They opened one up in Indy last year and now they plan on opening 2 in Cincy next year.

Lobster in Puerto Nuevo down in Baja California, Island tent camping on the Kalispell Islands in Priest Lake in North Idaho, paddling out into the lineup at dawn on Hollister Ranch.

This is exactly the spirit of the question and I like what I see... Love Mexican food.

Last weekend I was in Vegas. Buffet Wicked Sponn in Cosmo and Bachanal in Ceasers pricey but worth it. Some ritzy Italian place in the Venetian.

But... The friggin onion rings at a vendor at the Red Bull air races were the best In show... Roach coach kind of vendor.

I think the point of this is more of a regional thing. You can eat a high end steak or find a good sushi joint most anywhere. You can't get an authentic Chicago deep dish anywhere, or good regional BBQ or the like. When traveling, it's best to go for the local claim to fame.
