241 AM arizona time. Owl hooting in the backround. Mom is asleep, chicks are poking around, going back to sleep. Birds beginning to chirp.

The birds greet the sun! It's neat how they do that, as if acknowledging that nuclear fire 93,000,000-miles away as the source of life that it is!

I'm hearing robins, cardinals, sparrows and mourning doves, and perhaps, a wild goose?

This is the second year that my wife's been addicted to watching the Decorah Eagles. She watches at least an hour a day.

Very nice. Enjoyable to listen to the songs of robins and Red-winged Blackbirds, an occasional chickadee, and the flyovers of Canada Geese.

Maybe the mate will bring a duck, or house cat for breakfast. :embarassed:

I've been watching a Red-tailed Hawk nest cam but it's not very active yet as they're still on eggs.

Another good one is of a Great Blue Heron on a nest with a great view overlooking Cornell's Sapsucker Woods.

Thanks for posting the link. i"ll have to keep an eye on the weather radar near there. It would be fun to watch during a rain storm...

There are three nesting pairs within a mile radius of my house. And I also know where there are two osprey nests. Cool birds.

12:13 p.m. est. Mamma is picking at some kind of animal in the nest and feeding it to the babies. One baby bends over shoots out a load.

It’s cool to watch her feed them. Thank you for posting this. :wavey:

Anybody know if these are the same parents that raise 3 babies last year? Did all 3 survived, I was watching them last year and all 3 were flying but don't know what happen to them. They took down the cameras.

The chicks are almost as big as the adult eagle.

I just looked at that live feed again and those 3 babies are as big as mama (or papa) who was standing by. All 3 are sleeping. They were little chicklets when I last looked!!

The write up says they spend 3 months in the nest.....and they all hatched the end of March---so they should be flying the coop right soon!!

I started getting nervous watching one of the babies try to walk around the edge of the nest while the wind was whipping! Neat stuff though.

After searching the web I found other eagle cams. One near the Quad Cities (Alcoa cam) and another in N. MN.

The one in N. MN has one chick - the parents first attempt. The chick got caught in the nest and had to be removed for treatment. MN has a world class raptor center. The chick's wound was covered in maggots.

After treatment, the chick to the nest and the parents started to feed it. This mom isn't as 'accomplished' as the Decorah mom. But, the chick appears to be thriving.

You can find the link at Minnesota Bound - they also have a loon cam.

I have been watching them since they were very small,,,The mother would cover them at night with her body or shield them from the rain. Now they are too big for that and about too big for the nest. They grew so fast I was amazed

The adults come back to the same nest every year,,,I think they keep adding to it and rebuilding it and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
