Yesterday while working around the yard I noticed this little guy had stuck its purple nose out of the ground. It's a Bleeding Heart that my little sister planted as house warming gift for me 36 years ago this summer. Last year is was pretty scraggly and I was worried if it would make it through another winter. I'll try a little miracle-gro on it this year, and I've put a tupperware "green house" over it for the overnight. For me it is has always been a welcome sign of spring.

What, if any, little thing says spring is on it's way to you??

Ha-Ha...May hit 50 here today if the sun stays out, but chilly north wind. Supposed to get 3 - 6" of snow Thursday night. But at least the black flies aren't too bad yet.

I have a patch of Peonies that came from my grandma's home more than 25y ago, and I moved them from my prior home to a house I built in 2018. There is a lot of sentimental value with that patch of peonies. My wife treats them like her babies and have been multiplying them and separating and making new patches from those flowers for years.

Scalped the lawn and fertilized it this morning. Forecast for upper 80s today, lower 90s tomorrow. Summer by Sunday?

I played tennis (for a very short time) outside yesterday, in beautiful sunny 70 degree weather.

The cows have been dropping calves here for the last few weeks. That's always a good sign of spring.

Yep, they're like fleas on a dog's back in these parts.
Pollen is way up and the Apiarists brought their hives in a week ago. They keep them on BLM land about a mile from us. Gotta get the tubs of water with rocks in 'em out today.

The old timers out here ran the spreaders in the winter while the ground was frozen.

Vermont bans the spread of manure between Dec. 15 and April 1. When the first of April hits, look out!
