Has anyone come up with the optimum material to line the shelves in your gun safes? I'm thinking of something inert and won't hold moisture. Any ideas?

You might want to float this one in the General Firearms forum.

I'm taking all the carpet lined shelves out of my safe and making new ones out of finish grade whitewood. Then will probably either prime it white and leave it, or varnish it. The carpeting makes the inside of the safe too dark, and I don't see a need for it. A nice wood would look better, not retain any moisture if sealed, and make it brighter which will make it easier to see where stuff is.

I built shelves inside my "safe" (its really a gsa security container), I covered my shelves with light grey automotive carpeting I got from Menards.

It looks relatively nice, and I think that type of carpeting is somewhat moisture resistant?

I just put these in my gun safes. They have adhesive backs and I stick them under all the shelves. Just push them in and you have ample light to see everythin in your safe. This was my inexpensive solution to my dark safe problem.

Another idea is to buy a battery operated string of LED white xmas lights and string them around the top and sides of your safe. I use two strings along with the Sylvaina LED's. Problem with them as they are rather spot focused.
