If it's just you waiting, you can hang back and wait for either lane to open first, if someone else shows up behind you, make a choice.

As long as you do not ask for a pen when you pull up to the window and then do your paperwork, I can work with you on line choosing.

I don't feel you're wrong, but I choose differently. I pick one lane and wait patiently, without concern for what happens in the other lane. I know I'm going to be serviced eventually.

Pick a bank with only one lane...

    Problem solved.

I will use the pumps that offer both gas and diesel when I am pulling a trailer. Those pumps are located at the outside ends and have the room necessary to maneuver a trailer.

    I too use those.

I also leave them open if possible in case someone comes in pulling a trailer and I’m not.

It’s just situational awareness and being respectful of others needs.:wavey:

There is a stop and rob near me, the gas and diesel pumps are in different lines. 2 pumps per line. When you pull up to the gas pumps there is a good chance that both pumps are blocked by people inside doing the pop and goodies routine.

You are allowed to stay uncommitted until someone pulls up behind you. Then decide and get out of the way.

Hasn't happened in over 40 years of driving, I doubt it'll happen any time soon but thanks for thinking of me. :mememe:

    You're welcome.

The older you get, the more it becomes likely, so there is still hope.

Whenever I'm standing in a line and someone gets in line behind me, I usually warn them, in a friendly way, that they don't want to be in line behind me. The reason I do this is because at least one person ahead of me will have a problem, causing the line to be twice as slow as the other lines.

Hey now, I’m getting something to drink too. It’s not all about the snacks.

If I must...I choose a line and stick to it...what I would NOT do is engage a stranger ( in these times) regarding what many assume is a trivial matter...too many kooks out there.

I always get the gas station that has 2 pumps and some lady is parked in the middle of both pumps so you can't use either pump. Of course she's not getting gas,she is getting her $100 worth of lottery tickets and confusing the only guy behind the glass working the gas pumps and the lottery, telling him he boxed the wrong numbers and that the other numbers were for the evening play. Then while every one else is standing at the window waiting to pay for their gas,the lottery player wants to buy scratch off tickets but can't decide which of the 50 different scratch off tickets to buy. Of course she also wants the attendant to check her 50 previous purchased lottery tickets to see if any of them are winners!

Yes. Which lane do I pick? None of them say, "Do Not Enter".

On CO to MT trip. Wife said cheapest fuel had note (from weeks before) that multiple fuel pumps didn’t work for CC at pump. I figured in 3+ weeks that was fixed. Nope you had to go in, they recharged your card/give cash, then fill, get back in line to pay, get change.
Fun pulling a trailer with gas pickup, many stations not designed for them.
