I used to think it was strictly a "southern" thing...you know like an RC Cola and a Moon Pie...but now I think it was national

Turned on to it one hot August in Texas in the 70s. Brought it north. My kids still think it’s strange.

What is the idea of the peanuts in the soda? I've heard of this in the past, but no one ever said why one would do such a thing.

According to Barbara Mandrell, “I was country when country wasn’t cool”. Yep that is old school and still cool.

1920s Texas and Arkansas. Farmers wanted a drink and snack they could consume with one hand while they rode on a farm implements as they handled the reins with the other. They taught it to mechanics who worked on farm equipment and wanted a snack with a drink because they had greasy hands.

I like it when I'm on road trips.
