May finally have the go ahead to pick up a LIDAR for our agency (been trying for a while). I have experimented with the Laser Tech UltraLyte and the Kustom Signals Pro-Laser III. Both seem fine to me, but my experience with them is admittedly limited.

What are you guys using and what do you think of it?

Using Kustom Pro-Laser III and love them. No issues so far. Only experience with other LIDAR is earlier models of the Pro-Laser.

The Kustom Electonics LIDAR was flawless for me and our motor units swear by it.

We have lasers/LIDARS from different manufacturers.

We all fought over the Kustom Prolasers IIIs.

Some of the other brands sit on shelves because they are worthless and have limited range. Back when I was in the traffic unit, I could tag offenders at long distance with the Prolaser. Longest lock was over 4000 feet without the benefit of a tripod.

We use the LaserLyte, and since the units are getting a bit older now, they're starting to show their age a bit, and failing more and more. When they work, they work well, and are easy to use.

Good gun... The only heavy thing about it is the price tag

We have had great and long service from our Ultralytes! We had a Pro laser and it did not last but only a couple years before it died on us.

My experience has been with Stalker:

...and most recently, LTI UltraLyte. Laser Tech is nearby so they hook us up.

Zero problems with either, although Stalker is my preference for all things speed enforcement. YMMV
