If the political threads are going to be allowed in the GNG forum, then there is no need for a Political Issues forum on GT.

I gotta hold my nose and vote for Bush in this election.

I know that Bush is a draft dodger like Dan Quale. But Kerry bailed out from service in Vietnam (4 months) because he wanted to go cheerleading for the VietCong with Jane Fonda and her ilk.

This election really sucks because our choice is between a draft dodger and a turncoat.

I wish that it were John McCain that won the GOP nomination for president in the 2000 election.

    Sixgun,

I respect your original request to keep the pollitical stuff on the pollitical forum. But,...when you make statements as the one in your last post,....I have to reply. Therefore , this thread is now leaning toward the pollitcal,....which is fine to me.....In response to your John MCCain statement,...HE IS THE ONLY VIETNAM VET WHO CAME OUT OF A P.O.W. CAMP WEIGHING MORE THAN HE DID WHEN HE WENT IN!!! If the Hanoi Hilton had a presidential suite,...he stayed in it. He comes from a prominent family. He is the son of a Navy admeral.....John MCCAIN was one who was instrummental in the gun show loop hole bill as well as the finance reform bill.....If I were to vote for MCCAIN,...I might as well vote democrat. He is a Republican in name only....

    Well I got distracted. :(

So why even have a Political Issues forum if political discussions are going to be allowed in GNG?

Respectfully, Six, Eric has acknowledged that during an election year there is a great deal of spillover of politics into general public discourse - that which should be considered the proper subject of GnG, and has allowed a great degree of leeway. If the administrators were to enforce strict adherence to post classification, about 90% of the posts in GnG would need to be moved to other forums.

Think of GnG Politics as "Political Forum Lite". ;)

I still think we should have a "Control Freaks" forum! ;)

Just typed this responses in another similiar thread. Copying it here:

I am very well aware that we have a Political Issues forum. Even if I were not, the 20 some reminders every day that I receive in "reported posts" from those that want political threads moved is enough of a reminder. It is unrealistic to think that we are going to move every political thread less than one month before a Presidential election.

I understand your feelings, and respectfully ask that you, and the others that send the constant stream of reported posts about this matter, let it rest, at least until after the election.

So why not just get rid of the Political Issues forum?

If we can post politics in GNG, then a political issues forum becomes redundant.

    Tommy21,

I looked at your sources and it says that Bush smeared McCain's record. That may be so.

But you can not deny that Kerry started supporting the Communist forces in Vietnam after getting out. A war hero? He was as much a war hero as General Benedict Arnold.

I can see why the liberals would be against the war in Vietnam, they share much in ideology with the communists.

Interesting that you started this thread to complain about political threads not staying where they belong...

and you end up "taking the bait", turning this into what you originally complained about! ^d

    yea, I know.

I get pretty riled up on political discussions, which is why I prefer to keep those discussions on the Political Issues forum.\

If the politics are allowed in the GNG, then why have a political issues forum?
