Hi everyone….I was just curious to find out what duty ammo is issued and carried by our LEO's in their respective cities/counties.

I’ve tried searching GT with only a little luck. If there is a thread out there that I have missed, I would greatly appreciate a link.

    Thanks!

Most LEA's use one of these Gold Dot, Ranger T, PDX1, Golden Saber, HST. Even if you could e mail all agencies in the US I would think very few would respond with their ammo. usage.

    I agree.

But, I was hoping some of the law enforcement officers out there in GT land would post what they're issued.

My agency issues Win Ranger-T 165SXT in .40 and 127+P+ SXT in 9mm. The County issues Gold Dot 147/9mm, 180/40S&W and 230/45ACP. Two near-by cities both issue Ranger-T in 9/40/45.

One city north of me in a different county issues the Win 185STHP in 45ACP.

NYPD uses the Speer 135 grain +P Gold Dot for their officers that carry 38 Special snubs. You may want to check out some of the LE web sites like le.atk, hornadyle.com, winchester.com/lawenforcement, remingtonle.com, dakotaammo.net (Cor Bon), etc.

    Thanks Everybody!!

This is really great info. I always see our local law enforcement officers around town, but I'm a little nervous about strolling up to one of them and asking about their weapon and ammo.

    Thanks Again!!

depends on whats the cheapest at the time the purchase is made.

we use 147gr. 9mm and have gone from Win Ranger to Fed HTS to Fed Hydra-shok to Win generic H.P. (not wwb).

Whatever quality hollow point is cheapest at the time of purchase.

Over the years, I have been issued Winchester, Remington and Federal.

It has always been the first rate line from each manufacturer, but always the cheapest on contract price at the time.

In my neck of the woods they carry Glock 37's (45 GAP) with Winchester USA 230 grain JHP.

I was surprised that they used the less expensive wwb ammo.
